David Casavant first started collecting clothing as a fashion-obsessed teenager, scrawling through endless eBay listings in search of haute couture’s most holy grail. 10 years on, the 25-year-old stylist has amassed over 1,000 highly sought-after pieces, including some of the rarest Raf Simons, and has the likes of Kanye West, Rihanna and Travis Scott knocking on his door to loan them.
Our friends over at Amuse paid David a visit at his New York City apartment, which, like a live-in art installation, is nonchalantly littered with pieces like the Raf Simons Peter Saville Parka and the kama sutra bomber by Tom Ford for Gucci.
“I love Raf because of the attitude you feel in the clothes, that’s what makes it special to me,” David explains. “And I love Helmut because I feel like he reshaped menswear the most.”
After graduating from Central Saint Martens, he moved back to New York to work as a stylist. He started bringing clothes from his archive to shoots, which led to friends of his requesting to use them. “Eventually word got out,” he tells Amuse, modestly. “Kanye loaned the Raf A/W 2001 camo bomber and the A/W 2001 Antwerp hoodie.”
But, he says, the collection is more for pleasure than it is for profit.
“I’m very particular about which clients I work with, but in terms of celebrities, I really only loan to Kanye, Rihanna, Travi$ Scott, Alicia Keys and Lorde. Pretty much all of my clients are repeat clients as I don’t openly loan to tons of people. I’m fortunate in that I have a small client base that regularly borrows.”
Casavant collects mainly Raf Simons and Helmut Lang, but also owns Calvin Klein Collection, Gucci by Tom Ford, Saint Laurent, Dior Homme, Craig Green, Yohji Yamamoto and COMME des GARCONS. Find out which is his favorite piece by reading the article in full over at Amuse.

As he stocks continues to grow, this is why Raf Simons should just stay at Raf Simons.
