TV presenter Anthea Turner has hit the headlines after revealing she’s downsized from a £5 million to a three-bedroom flat and is loving it.
Once the second-highest-paid female presenter on TV, Turner, 56, has claimed after years of turmoil in her personal life, things are looking up and she’s ready to make a go of it with her new man, a multi-millionaire former banker.
She told Mirror Celeb: “I’ve changed my life quite a lot in the last three years. I have a small flat in Richmond and I’m not feeding the big brick monster. I still have a lovely life, it’s very different to the one I used to have, but, with my hand on my heart, I can’t say, ‘Oh, I wish I had a bigger house’.
Anthea Turner has revealed a new direction in life
“I haven’t been on holiday for nearly two years, only the odd few days away with friends, but I don’t need as much. It’s feeding the system and I don’t need to.”
It’s not the first time Anthea’s managed to make waves.
The blonde bombshell was once voted 15th Worst Briton by a Channel 4 poll and has had her fair share of highs and low during her four-decade spanning career.
Here’s a look back at some of her more memorable moments:
Blue Peter babe
Rex With Tracy Island
After a few years presenting, Anthea finally hit the big time in June 1992 when she landed a spot on the highly covetted children’s TV show – Blue Peter.
Staying with the BBC show for two years she was responsible for the iconic Tracy Island model, from Thunderbirds.
Anthea’s girl-next-door image and cute smile made her a pin-up of the nineties and she had no problem cashing in on her pin-up status, releasing a string of workour DVDs, starting with Anthea Turner Body Basics in 1996.
Nearly as big as Cilla
After a string of presenting roles on the BBC including the National Lottery draw, Top Of The Pops and Blue Peter, Anthea defected to ITV in 1996 to present travel show Wish You Were Here…?
The role saw her become the second highest paid female television presenter in the UK, after Cilla Black.
Anthea and Eamonn Holmes on GMTV
It wasn’t all plain sailing for Anthea’s career.
In December 1996 he was sacked from GMTV after co-presenter Eamonn Holmes issued an ultimatum to boss to sack her or he would quit.
Eamonn and Anthea were the nation’s favourite presenters when they shared the GMTV limelight between 1994-96.
But, relations broke down when Eamonn branded Anthea “Princess Tippy Toes”.
They ended the feud in 2009 after Turner featured as a guest on Holmes’ BBC Northern Ireland show – The Friday Show.
Speaking at the time he said: “We have put the past behind us. It is nice that we are at a stage in our lives when we can finally do just that.”

In 2000 her image took a further blow when it emerged she had been paid £450,000 to eat a Cadbury’s chocolate bar in her and Grant’s wedding photos – an incident now jokingly referred to as “flakegate”.
Along with the affair, the images helped Anthea’s career struggled to recover following the row, and she has since taken work on Canadian TV in order to keep going.
Celebrity Big Brother

Anthea, then 40, took part in the first series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2001 alongside the likes of Jack Dee and Vanessa Feltz. The appearance helped craft a new image of the star as the ideal housewife and helped relaunch a new career for the star.
Sparking the Turner Renaissance, in 2006 she made her television comeback on BBC Three in Anthea Turner: Perfect Housewife, where she taught disorganised house women and men how to clean and run their houses. She wrote three books to accompany the series.

Anthea stood by Bovey when his buy-to-let business collapsed at the height of the financial crisis, with debts of some £50million and went into administration in 2008.
They were then forced to sell their £10 million home but, even after the couple divorced she was caught up in a legal battle with creditors of his bankruptcy case who sued her for £1.6mililon.

After trying to make the marriage work the couple eventually separated in 2013 and were granted a divorce last year.
