Breast Cancer: Hope is in the Handbag

A new line of stylish and sentimental handbags, Just BeCAUSE by Fuffy J. Couture, will debut on the red carpet at the Emmys on Sunday. The first collection in the line, The Liz Collection is dedicated to breast cancer. The chic black bags are lined in pink, include an inspirational message of hope inside and a silver charm hand-stamped with the name of a loved one or a word of significance. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from these bags will be donated to organizations that provide breast cancer outreach, research and support.
We want to give people a handbag that is special, a handbag that touches and inspires them, says Fuffy J. Co-founder Lyndi Eimerl. Every time they reach into their Just beCAUSETM bag, a patient will be reminded that there is hope, a survivor will be reminded of her strength and a friend or family member will be reminded of a person they love.
In April 2008, when their 53-year-old godmother was diagnosed with cancer and then passed away three months later, Eimerl and her sister, co-founder Kristin Morrow reflected on their lives and their work, and discovered a bigger life purpose. They wanted to impact peoples lives in a positive way while pursuing their passion for art and fashion. Having been dedicated to partnering with local causes and donating a portion of proceeds to them already, developing a new line of stylish cause-related bags became the next logical step.
The sisters were moved to kick off their new line with The Liz Collection for breast cancer when they met Ramona Russell from http://www.uptownliz.com and learned of her sister, Elizabeth Ann Liz Overturf, who lost her life to breast cancer at age 28. Ramonas and Lizs story resonated with them and they decided to name the collection in honor of her.
When Award-Winning filmmaker and Bestselling Author Adryenn Ashley caught wind of the new line, she was moved by the sentiment of the handbags and impressed with the designs. Having just lost a family friend to breast cancer herself, Ashley could relate to the designers source of inspiration for the line. Ashley will be showcasing the handbag on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 21st, 2008.
