Star Trek is finally returning to television.
The iconic franchise, which has seen a revival in recent years thanks to the blockbuster movies starring Chris Pine, will make its TV comeback early next year.
CBS unveiled the first teaser trailer for the show at its up-fronts event in Los Angeles last night.

Star Trek comes from Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, and is the first TV series based on the franchise in over a decade.
The last series to air was Star Trek: Enterprise, which came to an end back in 2005 following a successful six-year run.

The highly anticipated new series will premiere on CBS in 2017, before airing exclusively on the channel’s yet-to-launch streaming service.
Although fans have to wait a longtime, they have the latest entry in the film franchise to look forward to when Star Trek: Beyond hits cinemas in July.
