It’s taken more than 20 years to get their act together – but finally the Stone Roses dropped a new song tonight.
David Beckham, 41, timed it right stepping out in a band T-shirt while the Manc legends released a new image of themselves.
Not bad after years of rock and roll excess.
As for the music, it was well worth the wait.
Welcome back, chaps.
The track, All For One, was given its debut airings on UK radio tonight, and fans were quick to give their thoughts on the first taste of the band in over two decades.
Needless to say, there were a LOT of lemon emojis.
The Stone Roses are back with their first new single in more than 20 years
One fan tweeted: “New song by The Stone Roses is absolutely quality, love it! #RosesradioX (sic)”
Another excitable user wrote: “I dont think the stone roses track could be an better for me, so so happy (sic)”
The new tune combines the band’s rock ‘n’ roll style with a catchy chorus.
The band also unveiled the artwork for new single All For One
However, not everyone was overjoyed, with some saying they felt let down.
One wrote: “Well I found that new Stone Roses song very repetitive and underwhelming”
Another fan was a little fairer, adding: “Dunno what to make of new Stone Roses song; bit repetitive but catchy.”
The Roses are now in their fifties – but look to be in fine fettle
Last week the band – made up of Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield and Alan ‘Reni’ Wren -were forced to cancel two upcoming gigs.
The group made the decision after Reni fractured two ribs following a nasty fall.
A new album will be released later this year, the first new material from the Stone Roses for 22 years, since 1994’s The Second Coming.
