Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine earlier today, he revealed that the actress – who plays Dot Cotton – has a fantastic memory.
While the other members of the cast are only able to remember their own lines and upcoming stories, the 89-year-old knows what’s going on with everybody.
“I’m sure I can speak for most actors when I say that you don’t know what’s going on with other people’s storylines – except for June. She knows everybody’s scenes.

“She will know your upcoming scenes, your back history… She’s very vigilant. Whereas the rest of us, we have so many scripts, we just tend to learn our own scenes.”
Richard – who plays Walford bad boy Vincent Hubbard – then went on to show support for his on-screen mum Ellen Thomas and wife Tameka Empson ahead of the British Soap Awards on Saturday.

The former is up for Best Villain while the latter has been put forward for Best Comedy Performance.
In a bid to help his co-stars win, he said: “Ellen needs to win. There’s no villain better than Claudette. She’s even mean to her own son!
