Judging on the Great British Bake Off has got to be about the toughest gig in the world if you’re trying to lose weight – marzipan, frangipane, Victoria sponge, lemon tart… the list goes on.
Paul Hollywood turned 50 in March – and The Sun reports that he’s “determined” to slim down and look his best as a result.
Unfortunately, testing out contestants’ bakes on the new series of the show isn’t exactly the way to lose the pounds – so he’s on a strict no-cake diet off-screen, so that he can do a good job of judging the bakes when he’s on screen with Mary Berry.
Paul wants to slim down
The show will air in August – with contestants identities currently firmly under wraps until then on what’s one of the biggest TV shows in the country.
An insider said: “It’s proving difficult for Paul to shift the weight when he’s spending the whole day eating cake.
“Mary has suggested he just eat smaller portions but he has to try all of the bakes regardless. But off screen he is sticking to a strict diet of absolutely no cakes whatsoever. So he is using his days in the tent like treat days.
Mary’s been giving Paul diet advice
“He is also working out with a personal trainer three times a week and is regularly hitting the tennis court. Paul is really taking it seriously.
“He is determined to get into shape after turning 50 in March. The show is such a huge hit that it’s important he is looking good on camera.”
Keep at it and those buns will be looking in great shape in no time at all, Paul.
