Steven Beale is back in EastEnders .
Returning with Lauren Branning – who is also back in Walford – Ian’s eldest son arrived in style as he stepped out of a cab to see his dad’s shocked face.
Steven – who made his mark on Albert Square with his various unhinged behaviours – is once against played by actor Aaron Sidwell , who was last in the Square in 2008.
He may not have said any words but his impact was noticeable. The affect of his shock return was written all over Ian’s face.
Steven is back!
A stressed Ian went to the door, only to find there was not Peter, but his other son… Steven.
“Lauren… where’s is Peter?” said Ian, before his shocked face gasped, “Steven!”
Steven has a long history on the Square.
After a series of attempted murders, Steven kidnapped his adopted dad Ian in a sick attempt at revenge for his childhood traumas.
While Ian was missing, Steven got to know his siblings Lucy and Peter, tried to kiss his step-mother Jane, before eventually accidentally shooting her.
The actor starred in American Idiot the Musical in his time away from Walford
Then Steven realised he was gay after a failed attempt to sleep with Stacey Slater, and attempted to seduce his uncle Christian, and then, when rejected, tries to convince everyone that Christian hit on him. But luckily Jane sees through this and realises what has really happened.
Ian accepted Steven’s sexuality and didn’t reject him like his biological father did, but that wasn’t enough for him.
After that little incident, he then tried to convince his sister Lucy to run away to Europe with him to split the family up, but Pat Butcher discovered his plan.
Unfortunately she was run over and then Steven tried to smother her in her hotel bed, but she survives and tells Ian everything.
Having tracked down Lucy and Steven to the train station ready to leave, Ian convinces Lucy to stay and tells Steven that if he ever returns he would kill him.
Whether he lives up to that threat, remains to be seen.
Steven tried to kill Pat off in one of his more unhinged moments
Viewers know that Peter Beale and girlfriend Lauren Branning went to join Steven in New Zealand as part of their travels, and with Lauren’s return coming soon, it appears the two could be connected.
As well as this, soap bosses recently confirmed that Paul Coker would depart Walford in an ‘explosive storyline’. So could Steven have something to do with Paul leaving?
And where would that leave currently loved-up Ben Mitchell? Or the currently single Johnny Carter?
